Day, month, year, time

British and American
Ø  British
A quarter                    : 15 minutes
A half                         : 30 minutes
A minute                    : 60 seconds
An hour                     : 60 minutes
Past                            : Lebih
To                                : Kurang
O’Clock/sharp           : Pas

We can use a british style with putting the minutes before hours. Example:
1.    12.30 PM : it is a half past twelve
2.    06.15 AM : it is a quarter past six

                 14.15         : it is a quarter past fourteen
                 08.20         : it’s twenty past eight
     10.30         : it’s a half past ten

3.    14.45 PM : it is a quarter to fifteen
4.    06.25 AM : it is twenty five minutes past six
5.    07.35 AM : it is twenty five minutes to eight
6.    03.55 AM : it is five minutes to four o’clock

Ø  American
We can use American style with putting hours before minutes. But in American we don’t use a quarter, a half, past and to. Example:
1.    01.30 PM : one thirty
2.    10.15 AM : ten fifteen
3.    01.20 AM : one twenty
4.    21.26 PM : nine (twenty one) twenty six
5.    10.39 AM : ten thirty nine
6.    20.44 PM : eight (twenty) fourty four

British Exercise
Ayah   : Hi, what’s up?
Bunda            : Nothings up.
Ayah   : What are you doing here?
Bunda            : I am waiting my friends.
Ayah   : Did you bring a watch?
Bunda            : uh-uh..??
Ayah   : What time is it?
Bunda            : It is twenty to two
Ayah   : Oh my.. I have a business with my friend
Bunda            : I think it is a monkey business, right?
Ayah   : Of course, this business is not important. Because I can’t
find you there.
Bunda            : Emmm..really? You must be lie..
Ayah   : By the way, do you have a leisure tomorrow?
Bunda            : Yeah, I don’t have any job tomorrow
Ayah   : What time will you be free?
Bunda            : I will be free at a half past one
Ayah   : Ok, do you want to go to cinema?
Bunda            : My pleasure
Ayah   : Ok, thank you..J
Bunda            : You are welcome, my darling..J

American Exercise
Yanti   : What time is it? Hurry up..Hurry up..
Kurnia            : Calm down!
Yanti   : What time is it?
Kurnia            : Two o’clock
Yanti   : Come on! We have to teach!
Kurnia            : Teach..???!! Now is Sunday
Yanti   : Are you still drunk? Now is Monday
Kurnia            : Monday?? Oh my God! I forgot!
Yanti   : Do you remember our duty? At two o’clock we have to teach
all of students in D’Freak.
Kurnia            : Oh yeah, I remember it. Thank you.
Yanti   : It’s ok, you are welcome J
